Great Dublin Walkout

August 1913 saw the beginning of the “The Great Dublin Walkout” led by Jim Larkin and James Connolly.  The workers were protesting low wages and poor working conditions and trying to break the anti-union stance of the employers.  It lasted until January when Larkin advised the people to go back to work.  Although the strike was not viewed as a success, it never-the-less taught the employers that they could no longer treat their employees with indifference and brutality.
