In a new book by Lady Louise Patten titled “Good as Gold,” it is revealed that the Titanic would have been saved but for an error by the helmsman who steered the ship the wrong way and into the iceberg.  Lady Patten is the granddaughter of the Second Officer Charles Lighttoller.  This secret has been kept for the last 100 years, but now that her parents are dead she has decided to write about it.
