Five newly released Belleek centerpieces have been released at a cost of $125,000 each. The original was designed by Fredrick Slater in 1893 and won four gold medals at the Paris Exhibition in 1900. It has Irish harps on the base, supported by Irish wolfhounds and is crafted by hand. It stands 28 inches tall.

The village of Keady, Co Armagh is honoring Tommy Makem by naming a new arts centre after him. The singer/musician, died five years ago. The arts centre will be the centerpiece of the new Makem Square. Makem is known as the ‘Bard of Armagh.’
