Conway Mill Trust

May 8, 1857 -The ‘Father of the Argentine Navy’ Wm. Brown from Co Mayo died in Argentina. He emigrated to the US where he was conscripted into the British navy and later settled in Argentina where he joined the fledging Argentine navy.  He defeated the Spanish in 1825 and when Brazil declared war on Argentina he defeated them although he was heavily outnumbered.
