Nov 24, 1865- The Manchester Martyrs Larkin, O’Brien, and Allen are hanged in Manchester for their part in rescuing fellow Fenians from a police van during which a policeman was shot.  There is a monument in Tipperary to the three called “Maid of Erin.”
