According to George Bernard Shaw, Skellig Michael in Co Kerry is the  most impossible and the most fantastic rock in the world.  Its 2,300 steps were chiselled by hand by the monks.  It attracts 12,000 visitors a year. It towers eight miles off the south coast of Kerry and is called, ‘God’s hostile refuge.’
