Conway Mill Trust

A Kenyan village has produced a large number of runners thanks to Br. Colm O’Connell, an Irish missionary.  Since starting his training camp in 1989, he has trained 25 World Champions and 4 Olympic Gold Medalists. Lisa Kearney from Belfast will represent Ireland for the first time in judo. Derek Burnett will represent Ireland for his fourth Olympics in shooting. Ireland has won 23 medals in its Olympic history. Michelle Smith won 4 medals in swimming  (3 Gold) in Atlanta in 1994. In the 1956 Olympics Ireland won an all-time high of 5 medals-1 Gold, 1 silver, 3 bronze.
