There once was very poor man with a large family.  He told his wife he would leave her for seven years.  This he did and came back in seven years.  Nine months later his wife gave birth to seven sons.  The man was desperate and decided to drown them.  On his way he met a priest and told him he had seven pups in the basket, but the priest didn’t believe him and looked in the basket.  He baptized the first child and said he would raise him himself.  He then baptized all the others and said they would all be raised by priests. When they grew up they all became priests. The Seven Churches in Lough Derg are named after them.
