John Hume, former head of the SDLP (Social Democratic Labor Party), has been made a Knight of St. Gregory by Pope Benedict for his work in bringing about the Peace Treaty.  Mr. Hume was voted the greatest man in Irish history in a recent RTE poll.  His famous quote, ” When people are divided, the only solution is agreement.”
