The only example of an early Celtic princely grave with a wooden chamber has been found in Germany. It is the remains of an aristocratic lady, maybe a princess, estimated to be 2,600 years old. She is believed to be royalty because of the amount of jewelry found. The grave was preserved because of the water-sodden earth; so, the oak of the floor was intact; and this puts the date on it as the oak trees were felled 2,620 years ago. The remains of a child were found with her, presumably her own. The Celts at this time lived in southwestern Germany before they spread out to other parts of Europe.
