The Guinness Brewery tried to get its stout allowed into the U.S. during prohibition as a medicine but the Treasury Department flatly said “no.”
All the grain used by Guinness is grown in Ireland.
The harp symbol on Guinness is the same as that used by the government except it faces left instead of right.
