The Devil’s Bit in Co. Tipperary is one of the most visited sites in Ireland. There are many legends connected to the mysterious chunk out of the side of the mountain. One of these is that St. Patrick plucked a shamrock out of the ground to explain the Holy Trinity to King Aengus thus converting the King to Christianity. The devil was so angered that during the Baptism he attempted to flee the country but he was slowed down by the Sleive Bloom Mountain so he took a bite out of the peak. When he reached the other side of the mountain, he spit it out forming the Rock of Cashel.
