Flight of the Earls

Sept 4, 1607-The Flight of the Earls took place.  O’Neill, O’Donnell and 99 other chieftains left Ireland because of refusal to attend Church of Ireland services and other infractions against the Crown, leaving their lands open for what was to become the plantation of Scottish and English settlers.
