A new interactive visitors’ museum is opening in May at Custom House Quay in Dublin. It is titled: “Epic Ireland” and covers all aspects of Ireland from history to famous members of the diaspora.

Recent filming of “Game of Thrones” had to be postponed when a torrential rainstorm occurred and rocks began falling on the crew. The filming was taking place at Magheramorne Quarry in Co Antrim.

In 1974 a bizarre medical case occurred when a baby was born with the cap of a Guinness stout bottle stuck in its scalp. Neither the doctor nor mother had any idea how the cap made it in there. The only explanation to date is that she must have accidently swallowed it.

Greenwich Mean Time vs Dublin Mean Time

The 1889 Statutes Act deemed Dublin Mean Time as opposed to Greenwich Mean Time as the legal time for all of Ireland. This was exactly 25 min and 21 seconds behind local time in Britain. After the Rising in 1916 it was realized that this was not only inconvenient but was confusing for telegraph communications and the time zones were switched back to coincide with Britain.
Dundalk Jail
