Irish President, Michael Higgins, attended a reception in Buenos Aires and addressed the 500,000-strong Irish community in Argentina.  He focused on the contributions the Irish have made to the country since they emigrated from the Midlands in Ireland during the 19th Century, fleeing the Great Hunger and oppression.  He also attended a ceremony to honor Wm. Brown from Mayo who founded the Argentine Navy.
