Irish participation in the American Revolution helped bring our independence. Names of 1700 and 1800 Irish immigrants appear in the records in the tens of thousands. At the Battle of Lexington 174 were present, the Battle of Bunker Hill 698, and one-half of Washington’s Continental Army were Irish. In a speech to the English Parliament, Lord Mountjoy said, “America was lost by Irish emigrants.”
