From 1896 to 1916, Irish men and women won 18 medals, but they are listed as British medals. In 2008 three medals were brought home to Ireland all in boxing.

The 70-day relay of the Olympic torch begins today, May 19th, and arrives at the opening ceremony in London on July 27th.
