Still Imprisoned Project (SIP) was founded in 2008 against a background of a clear need to provide help and advice to those within the Belfast community suffering from the effects of long-term imprisonment. The ending of hostilities is a reason for celebration for most, but unfortunately for a few the experience has left them physically and emotionally scarred — commonly known as post-traumatic stress disorder.

Still imprisoned Project is a self-help program with over 70 volunteers who are available to be called upon any time to render advice, comfort and friendship.

This community organization receives no government funding and relies solely on private donations and volunteers for carrying on its work.
